Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies shot and killed a suspect in a Broward County carjacking on Tuesday night, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said.

The man, who was in his 20s, carjacked an Uber driver and stabbed him in Broward before heading into Palm Beach County, the sheriff said.

Deputies confronted the suspect in a traffic stop on Meed Drive in Lake Worth Beach. The man brandished a knife as he got of the car, Bradshaw said.

He charged the deputies, who shot him.

No information was released about how many deputies were involved, how many shots were fired or the identities of the suspect or deputies.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the State Attorney’s Office are investigating.
